CSW-PIP

I received my Masters of Social Work from Rutgers University in 2007. I also completed a Masters of Divinity at Princeton Theological Seminary. I am a Certified Social Worker- Private, Independent Practice. I have experience working in several outpatient clinics with children, adolescents and adults. I practice child centered play therapy, where the child processes their thoughts, feelings and experiences through play and I narrate what they are doing, play along with them however they’d like and narrate any feelings I’m noticing to help the child start to identify their feelings and learn to own and express them in healthy ways. I also enjoy family play therapy, where I play with the child or children and their caregiver all together and help the family develop skills of listening, narrating feelings and developing strong bonds of attachment between parents and their children.

I have experience leading groups for children, adolescents and adults for over 15 years. I currently lead social skills groups for kids ages 5-13+ called Friendship Club. In Friendship Club we share snack, play games, read books, draw pictures and create with legos to learn about a different social skill each week. These skills include meeting new people, personal space, identifying how I am feeling and how other people are feeling, healthy ways to express our feelings, problem solving, and developing flexibility. I also lead Play Pals, a social skills group for children from birth to age 5 with their caregiver. It is a music and movement class focused on learning social skills. We spend each session singing songs, reading books and playing games about feelings, relationships and social skills like personal space and kindness.

I also enjoy working with adults experiencing different life changes and those looking to find a balance between work and family life.
